Is renting a carpet steam cleaner right for you?
Is renting a carpet steam cleaner right for you? Well, you have to compare a couple things in order to decide. One, are you going to be cleaning your carpets often? Do you have the cash to buy a carpet steam cleaner now? Do you know a good place that rents steam cleaners?
I would recommend actually buying a cleaner if you plan on having it and using it a few times a year. Normally you can recoup your costs in about 5 years or so if you purchase one. Be sure to use it often and not get the cheapest carpet cleaner you can find. Be sure to figure in the cost of the cleaning solution as this an add up from time to time.
If you decide you do not clean enough to warrant a purchase of a carpet steamer, then renting is probably the best option for you. This will save you the upfront cost and renting it each time should only cost about $25 a day or so. Be sure to remember buying the solution as you are paying for your renter. They do not come filled up and need it added.
Once you decide you want your home cleaned with your steam cleaner it is time to fill it up and get to work. It should take a good day or so to clean all of your carpets. Take your time and do not rush through it. The hardest part of it all is moving all the furniture in and out of the different rooms. I recommend doing this ahead of time and saving your back from being sore. Do one room at a time and be careful.
After you have completed your cleaning, keep everything off of it for a while since it will still be a little wet. Allow it to air dry for a while before placing your furniture back.
